What Needs To Be Done
Now I know there are some people who may say: "Yo Ghost! How could I say that."
In 2008 after attending an Obama rally in Norfolk, VA. I saw a man with pin on his shirt that had a picture of Dr. King on it in the forefront and in the background was Barak Obama and the caption at the bottom of the pin it read:
"The Dream has been achieved".
So what's next? How do we fix the problem, and yes it is a problem, and its not just Trayvon. That was the high profiled case, but there are cases every single day of racial injustice. It's sickening. Who is going to be the one to stand up and fight, who is going to lead the charge, who is going to say: "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"?
I'm not writing this blog to vent I'm writing this blog with hopes of solutions.
And I'm open to suggestions what needs to happen. I think we need more male mentors for young people. Positive role models because basketball wives are not a role model. Who is the guy in the community that kids can look up too. Who walks with chip on his shoulder? The guy who is rich in family values and not so much in material things.
Second we need to stand. We need to unite. Fight for whats right, and stop what's wrong. That means me, that means you, that means that lady mistreating her kids, you have to step up and say something; and I know its hard because people don't want to be told how to raise their kids because we were all raise differently. But I am a believer in it takes a village. I'm a firm believer that we can't do it alone. Our village has been infultrated and now, we are trying to do the work that grandma, granddad, aunt fannie and uncle george did with just momma or just daddy. We have (and I'm talking about the majority) have gotten away from core values. Even if you weren't raise with them, you know what they are.
F**** THE WORLD
I feel like in order for us to advance as a people. We have to be able to forgive those who do wrong to us. And I'm not going to lie to you, me... I have a lot of work to do, but it has to start somewhere. Word says:
"But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on your right cheek turn to them the other cheek also"
-- Matthew 5:39
1) Peace Protest
3) Town Hall Meetings
and this list goes on...
There are numerous things we can do stop the spread of inequality in this country, but my question still is what are YOU going to do?
